China Guardian has announced that the 37th quarterly auctions will begin March 22 in Beijing, with about 6,000 top-quality items on offer during the four-day sales event.

To start, about 2,700 pieces of Chinese calligraphy and paintings will be offered, featuring many contributed by individual collectors. For the first time in the history of the quarterly auctions, comic manuscripts will be presented, including those about Chinese history and celebrities.

Among the 1,900 porcelain and artworks, many come from Hong Kong-based collectors. The highlights include a cowpea red glazed Zun-vessel and a blue and white seal box, both from the Qing Dynasty, and others from the early 20th century.

The other highlighted artworks include     a Duan inkstone and an embroidery robe from the Qing Dynasty.

Top-quality furniture will also be offered at the upcoming 37th quarterly auctions. The furniture, classical and modern, varies in style and technique, while the impressive stone pots are bound to draw heavy attention.

In addition, about 700 ancient books will go under the hammer.
